Time moves forward, never backwards! Each day comes new follows by the next and the next. No matter what Hollywood may tell us, time travel is impossible and paradoxical! If we could time travel it would create massive problems that could result in absolute turmoil, so obviously time travel has to be impossible.
But each spring and fall we are led to believe that some sort of time travel is possible. This past weekend most of North America, with a few exceptions, moved its clocks forward for Daylight Saving Time. At 2:00am on March 12th we “lost” an hour as our clocks moved forward to allow for more daylight. And some time in November 2023, we will “gain” it back as our clocks return to standard time!
This has been a sore point for me for many years! To begin with we don’t gain anything! The day is still 24 hours long and we still have the same amount of daylight as we had before the change. The only difference is the time of the daylight. We’ve shifted the “extra” daylight to the end of the day instead of the beginning, but that is the only difference, nothing is gained!
There is an old aboriginal proverb which states “Only a white man would believe you could cut a foot off the top of the blanket, sew it onto the bottom of the blanket, and you’d be left with a longer blanket.” This is a wonderful explanation of the stupidity of Daylight Saving Time! It makes about as much sense!

So why do we continue to do this? God created time at the beginning of creation, he created the day with the sun and moon marking their portion. He created the week which ended with the Sabbath, and He created the year which had each individual season. Man has no control over any of this. It is frozen into how the world runs. But like everything else that God created, man feels like he can change things.
The Sabbath has been changed to Sunday by many people and churches, but God still only recognizes the true Sabbath of Saturday because God never changes according to Malachi 3:6. If God never changes, then time cannot change, because God created time! Plain, simple and concise!
There were bills introduced in various provinces and states to end the foolishness of daylight saving time, but they died on the table due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Some of the bills have been resurrected and I can only hope that they will pass and we can stop trying to change this part of God’s creation! We cannot control the world if we want to follow His word, we must let Him be in control.
I’m hopeful that next year I won’t have to spend my valuable time going around the house changing my clocks to bring them in line with an unnecessary change, but until then I guess I have to keep complaining.
