For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” Matthew 18:20
On the weekend of July 16 & 17 2022 my wife and I returned to Camp Whitesands outside of Theodore, Saskatchewan after missing the last two years due to Covid. The camp meetings were not held in 2020 and 2021, but were instead done virtually over Zoom and YouTube. It was great to actually be back in person, but unfortunately Judy and I were only able to spend 2 days at camp instead of the full week. We’ll see what next year brings.
I’ve always loved going to camp because it gives us the opportunity to rejuvenate ourselves and rebuild our faith in Christ. Spending time together with like-minded people is incredible. One of the most startling things of being together with a large group of Christians is the total lack of swearing, yelling, smoking and drinking alcohol. It’s just a large group coming together to celebrate our love of God.
Being away for so long brought big changes. The kids have all grown up and aged three years which makes a huge difference. But for me there was a bigger change and it was really noticeable as I spoke to old friends and new friends that I had just met. The last time we were at camp was July 2019 and just a few short weeks later I was in hospital, paralyzed from the neck down. On Friday at camp I had the opportunity to present a short testimony of my journey since then and it moved people.
After my testimony I was able to speak with people one on one and give them greater detail about what I had gone through. Over and over I was told I was a living, walking miracle and I fully believe that too. Miracles happened in the Bible, but if you look around you will see they continue to happen today. Our faith in God is what pulls us through these difficult times.
While at camp I made a number of connections and hopefully in the coming months I will have the opportunity to share my full testimony at various churches in our conference. I’ve presented in three churches already and have another one booked for the end of August. These testimonies/sermons give me the chance to present my full testimony in a Biblical based setting. The power of God is on full display. At some point I hope to record my testimony so that many others have the opportunity to see and hear it. Until then though I will continue to share via my blog.
God bless.
