Can You Rewrite The Bible?

Over the course of a couple of thousand years the greatest book ever written was created and the greatest story ever created was told. But now in the 21st century that story is under fire more than ever. The Bible has endured through many generations, but it has always had its detractors. But they didn’t have their voices as widely spread as they do now with the advent of social media. Spend a day on Twitter and its amazing what garbage gets spewed.

Recently I got into a voracious debate over the Sabbath and the Ten Commandments with supposed Catholic Christians. Their claim that the Catholic Church is the only true church was repeated to me over and over again, and I was told that my church is founded on lies.

I beg to differ on both accounts, and in fact the Catholic Church is founded on lies. To begin with it is plainly stated in Scripture that we shall not call anyone father except God. (See Matthew 23:9And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.” And yet Catholics ignore that and call their priests and pope “father”.  And while we’re on about priests and the pope, let us not forget 1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” And yet Catholics are told they must confess their sins to a man. So if the Catholic Church is the one true church, why do they not follow The Word?

But wait it doesn’t end there. In Exodus 20, God, through the prophet Moses brings forth the Ten Commandments. I won’t list them all because I feel that most people know them, but if you need a refresher click the link above. So lets look at Commandment number two: Exodus 20:4-5 “Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God.” So carefully see that we cannot create any graven idols or bow down to them, but enter any Catholic Church in the world (and many other churches) and you will see statues of Jesus and Mary, and people bowing to the idols! So the Catholic ten commandments removed the second commandment. Not sure who said they had this power, but it happened.

So with the removal of the second commandment, the fourth commandment now becomes the third (in the eyes of the Catholics) and that is Exodus 20:8 “Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.” Now as I have pointed out before the Sabbath is on Saturday, beginning at sundown Friday night and ending sundown Saturday. This is indisputable and undeniable, and yet Catholic (and most Protestant) churches continue to worship on Sunday. This was put in place by Constantine in 321AD and confirmed by the papacy in 364AD, it is a man-made law that goes completely against the scriptures. And before you say that God, or Jesus changed the day according to Acts 20:7, do you not think that if God had made such a change (which again he didn’t as Micah 3:6 proves), it would’ve been plainly and clearly addressed in Scripture with a verse stating “And God changed the day of worship to Sunday (or the first day!)” But nowhere in the Bible is there anything even close to that declaration!

So according to the above, we’ve removed one commandment and ignored another completely and therefore we’re left with only nine commandments? Nope, the Catholic Church has conveniently split the final (tenth) commandment into two. Exodus 20:17Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.” The Catholic version takes this single commandment and splits it into two, one being about the neighbour’s wife and the other being about his property. This is all very convenient and makes everything symmetrical again.

Now I know that I am going to get hate mail over this post and I’d like to point out that anger is a sin. I could also feel the wrath of the Catholic clergy, but all I am doing is pointing out truth as it is written in Scripture. I didn’t write the Bible, it was given through divine inspiration according to 2 Timothy 3:16, it may be open to interpretation in some areas, but it is not open to be changed! No one on earth has that power according to Matthew 5:18 “For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

I would also like to point out that my post is NOT against any Catholic people. I have friends and family that are devout Catholics and they believe the truth as is it taught to them. My real issue is with the Catholic Church as an entity that is misleading people through their misinterpretation of the Scriptures. So if you choose to take issue with what I’ve written, please consider that first.

It is our responsibility as Christians to read the Bible and understand what it is saying. We cannot accept what anyone, including myself, is telling you. It must be supported by true Biblical references. There is only one truth and that is God’s Truth as printed in the Scriptures and that is undeniable and unchangeable.

So the question asked in the title of this post, is “Can You Rewrite The Bible?” and the answer is an absolute NO!

God Bless.

  1. And just to spread the wealth around a little, why do Christians “forget” the only commandment that says to “remember”? They assume what has been told to them–that the assemblies immediately changed it, but that’s not the case from the bible and from history. James, when deciding about the gentiles who were coming to faith–and the Jews who demanded they become “Jews” (by means of circumcision) first–shared the word from his seeking Yahweh that they give up four pagan abominable practices. AND THEN, verse 21, that they go on sabbath to the synagogue to learn the Torah.
In 325AD when the Nicean council–300 hopelessly under-representing the 1,800 or so extant assemblies, “decided” or rather agreed with the emperor Constantine to move their meetings to Sunday to coincide with the Roman calendar, he sent out an imperial edict telling the other assemblies and the realm that Sabbath would be a work day and worship no longer tolerated. The “church” then reverse engineered the justification for doing so with claiming Sabbath changed to the “Lord’s Day” when that wasn’t the practice of the early church. That very idea, in fact, presumes that Yahweh didn’t know that was coming and so it needed to be “fixed.”
